About the Artist

Born in 1988 in Sydney, Australia, I have been drawing since I could hold a pen. Art has always been an important part of my life, I feel driven to produce artworks, no matter the difficulty and the time involved. I first thought seriously about becoming an artist in 2004, at the age of fifteen, and since then, I have been steadily working towards that goal. I feel that time constraints have not yet allowed me to fully display the ability I have now, at this very early stage in my career.

So far, I havecommissions from customers in Australia, the UK, Germany, Sweden, the United States, and Canada.

I have been a self-taught artist up until 2007, when I commenced studies at the National Art School in Darlinghurst, Sydney. I am currently in my second year of my Bachelor of Fine Art, and am majoring in painting, although, strangely, I had never really painted before attending the college. I am thoroughly enjoying the excellent Art History course, which is really opening my eyes to the wonderful diversity of the world of art.

I have always had an affinity for animals, and since childhood, one of my major inspirations was the horse, particularly the elegant Arabian breed and powerful, graceful warmbloods such as the Oldenburger and Hanoverian. I am an experienced rider, but have not yet fulfilled the dream of owning my own horse.

I have also always found inspiration in fantasy literature and this has influenced my decision to pursue a career in illustration. My favourite author would have to be Ursula LeGuin - everything I've read of hers is amazing, and I've never come across a fantasy writer with such an understanding of humanity. I am currently in the process of writing my own series of fantasy novels, and it is a dream of mine to illustrate them.

I also enjoy playing the piano - I had lessons from when I was three until I was fourteen. Nowadays I mostly play when nobody else is in the house, improvising and composing my own pieces. I also sing a lot. As far as music goes, I prefer indie/alternative artists, celtic music, and instrumental scores. I’m a keen photographer, I just wish for an SLR camera. You can find some of my photos here on Flickr.
